Michelle’s Bio
Michelle is a Registered Dietitian based in Durham, North Carolina. A Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD), Michelle has served as a leader in enhancing sports performance through innovative fueling strategies for over 15 years. Her expertise encompasses sports medical nutrition therapy, disordered eating counseling, weight management, and wellness nutrition as well. She also has special interests in child nutrition, diet for Autism Spectrum Disorder, and teaching high school and college students.

Michelle founded the Sports Nutrition Department at North Carolina State Athletics where their Training Table was recognized by the National Association for College and University Food Service in 2011. Previously, Michelle served as the Director of Sports Nutrition for the University of Florida Athletic Association from 1999-2005. In this role, Michelle directed nutrition education, counseling, and food service for the Gators’ 18 varsity teams. She also served as a lecturer and preceptor for the University of Florida Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition and other campus departments.
A career highlight for Michelle was co-founding RK Team Nutrition with Susan Kundrat MS, RD, CSSD. Together, Susan and Michelle have provided education services in various formats to athletes, teams, students, and various health professionals throughout the country. They have presented over numerous innovative, practically-themed workshops in the past few years. They’ve also created effective training materials for RDs preparing for the CSSD credential and exam.
Michelle has authored numerous articles, book chapters, and has served as reviewer for the SCAN Sports Nutrition Manual and many other text books. In 2010, Michelle was honored as Most Outstanding Young alumni from the College of Agriculture at Virginia Tech and in 2004, she received the Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year Award for the state of Florida.
Michelle holds Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees from the Human Nutrition, Foods, & Exercise department at Virginia Tech where she was team captain and 5-time conference champion of the Hokies’ Track & Field team. She completed her Dietetics internship training at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. Michelle and her husband, John, have 2 super children, Lewis and Leah.
